BIMPulse Not Showing in Navisworks

What to check when the BIMPulse tab is missing from the Navisworks ribbon or its tool buttons stay greyed out.

Navisworks Manage 2025–2027 · Updated

Check whether BIMPulse loaded

When BIMPulse loads correctly, you'll see two things each time Navisworks starts:

  • A Windows notification that says BIMPulse Plugin Successfully Loaded.
  • A BIMPulse tab on the ribbon, with a Tools panel holding Account Settings, Search Set Gen, Viewpoint Generator, Pulse Check, and Clash Generator.

If Windows notifications are turned off you won't see the first one, so look for the tab. If the tab is there, skip to Buttons are greyed out.

No BIMPulse tab

  1. Check your Navisworks edition and version

BIMPulse works in Autodesk Navisworks Manage 2025, 2026, and 2027. It isn't supported in Navisworks Simulate, Navisworks Freedom, or older versions of Manage. The edition and year are shown in the Navisworks title bar.

  2. Check that BIMPulse is installed

In Windows, open Settings > Apps > Installed apps and look for BIMPulse Navisworks. Then check that this folder exists:

    C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\BIMPulse.Navisworks.bundle

If either is missing, install BIMPulse by following Installing BIMPulse.

  3. Restart Navisworks

Navisworks only looks for plugins when it starts. If you installed or updated BIMPulse while Navisworks was open, close every Navisworks window and start it again.

  4. Reinstall

Still no tab? Do a clean reinstall, as described in Installation Issues.

Buttons are greyed out

Account Settings is always available. The other buttons only work when all of these are true:

Your license is activeIn Account Settings, the line under your name should show your email address. Anything else, such as No seats available, is explained in License & Activation Problems.
A file is open and has been savedThe tools need a Navisworks file with a file name. A new, unsaved file won't do: save it as an .nwf or .nwd first.
That tool isn't already openEach tool opens one window at a time. If its window is already open (check the Windows taskbar), its button stays greyed out until you close it.
You're onlineBIMPulse checks your license about once a minute. If a check fails because the connection dropped, the buttons stay unavailable until a later check succeeds.

Refresh the buttons

The ribbon doesn't always update by itself right after your license becomes active. If everything above checks out, open Account Settings and close it again, or switch to another file. Either one makes BIMPulse re-check every button.

A tool window closed by itself

The Pulse Check, Clash Test Generator, and Search Set Generator windows belong to the file that was open when you started them. They close by themselves when you open a different file. Reopen them from the ribbon.

Contact support

If BIMPulse still won't load, contact support with your Navisworks edition and version, and attach the most recent log file from:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\BIMPulse\BIMPulse\Navisworks-Telemetry-logs

To open it, paste that path into the File Explorer address bar. There's one file per day, named by date, and the last 14 days are kept.

Still stuck, or spotted something out of date? Contact support and tell us which guide you were using.
